PoolStyle Winterizer is a cationic polymeric flocculant supplied in a 1 gallon bottle, part number 33838P. It is designed to coagulate and floc suspended solids out of swimming pool water.
How it works
Fine particles that are too small for a filter to catch stay in suspension and make water look dull. A flocculant makes those particles bind to each other until they are large enough to be filtered out, and the rest settle to the bottom of the pool where the vacuum can pick them up.
Using it
No special equipment is needed. It may be added directly to the pool water. The point of using it at closing is that it is a cheap, low effort way to improve the appearance of the water over the months when nobody is running the pool every day.
