Product details

The SuperPro FC-9450 is the partial size vertical DE filter grid for 60 sq ft filters, measuring 9-3/4 inches by 30 inches. It is sold individually.

Why a set has a narrow grid in it

DE grid packs are built from full width elements plus one narrower partial grid. The partial is what lets the pack close up neatly inside a round tank. It is the same 30 inch height as the full grids but narrower, and the two are not interchangeable, so ordering the wrong one leaves you with a pack that will not seat.

When to replace

The grid fabric is what holds the DE coat that does the actual filtering. When it tears, thins or goes hard with age, the coat cannot hold and powder blows back through the returns after a recharge while the water stays cloudy.

Take the pack out and inspect every element rather than assuming the visible one is the only failure. Seams and top edges are where tears usually start.

What is the difference between the small and the large grid?
Width. Both are 30 inches tall, but the small partial grid is 9-3/4 inches wide against 11 inches for the full grid. A set uses mostly full grids plus the partial one to complete the circle inside the tank.
What size is this grid?
9-3/4 inches by 30 inches, the partial element for 60 sq ft DE filters.
Can I fit a full size grid in place of this one?
No. The partial grid is narrower for a reason and the pack will not seat correctly if you substitute a full grid for it.
How do I know the grid needs replacing?
DE powder returning to the pool after a recharge, or water that stays hazy, points at a torn or worn grid. Pull the pack and check every element for tears, thin spots and hardened fabric.
