Where it fits in the range

Stain Drop is sold as a numbered series, and each number targets a different problem. No.1 is the iron and scale product. If your staining is not iron, No.2 and No.3 cover other cases, and the all purpose liquid versions are a different format again.

Identify the stain first

Metal staining, organic staining and scale all look alike once they have been on a plaster surface for a season, and the wrong chemistry either does nothing or fixes the stain in place. A stain verification kit settles the question in a few minutes and is worth running before you dose a pool.
