Beautec is EasyCare's stain and scale controller, supplied here in a 1/2 gallon bottle. It works on two problems at once: the calcium and hard silicate deposits that roughen a waterline and clog equipment, and the dissolved metals that stain a pool finish.
Removing and preventing
Most stain products do one job. Beautec is used both to break down scale and stain that has already formed and to keep new deposits from taking hold. The active chemistry is built on chlorine stable multi-polymers, which is the reason a dose keeps working for months rather than being consumed by sanitizer within a few weeks.
Salt cells and acid
The usual way to clean a chlorine generator cell is an acid bath, and every acid bath takes a little of the coating with it. Beautec descales the cell without acid, so cell life is extended instead of shortened. The same protection extends to the filter, the heater, a water auto-leveler and a solar unit, all of which collect scale in the same conditions.
Metals
Iron, copper and manganese arrive with fill water, from corroding equipment, or from certain algaecides. Beautec sequesters them, holding them in solution so they cannot drop out onto plaster or a vinyl liner as a stain. The formula is acid free and phosphate free, so it adds nothing that would feed algae later.
