Product details

This is a blue and silver Spaceage solar cover cut for a 33 foot round above ground pool. It is a heating cover rather than a winter cover, and it goes on the water whenever the pool is not in use.

How it warms the water

The silver face is built to let solar energy through to the water instead of reflecting it away, and the bubble layer underneath traps that heat at the surface. Left on overnight and on cool cloudy days, the cover is rated to add as much as 15 degrees F to the pool. It also slows evaporation, which is where most of a pool's heat and most of its refill water disappear to.

Fit and handling

The cover is cut for a 33 foot round pool. Float it bubbles down against the water. The film is UV protected so it stands up to full sun, but like every solar cover it lasts longer if it comes off the deck and out of direct sunlight when it is not on the pool.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What size pool is this for?
A 33 foot round above ground pool. Round only, an oval pool takes a different cut.
How much will it actually warm the pool?
Up to 15 degrees F. The gain depends on how much sun the pool gets and how consistently the cover stays on.
Which side goes down?
Bubbles down, against the water. That is what lets the thermal bubbles trap heat at the surface.
Will it hold up in strong sun?
The film is UV protected, which is what keeps a cover from turning brittle and flaking after a single hot season.
