Solar Sun Rings are floating discs that warm a pool with sunlight. This is the Blue Sunburst pattern, 5 feet across, sold as a pack of six.
How they heat the water
Each ring is built from vinyl and plastic with a dark top layer that absorbs solar energy. That energy converts to heat and transfers into the water underneath. At the same time the rings act as insulation on the surface, cutting evaporation and slowing the heat that would otherwise pass into the night air. The result is a pool that gains warmth through the day and gives less of it back after dark.
Coverage
Heating depends on how much of the surface is covered. The general recommendation is a minimum of 60 percent of the pool surface area, which gives enough absorption to matter and enough coverage to hold the heat in.
