The Unicel FG-1005 is the large DE filter grid for 60 square foot filters, a 30 in. vertical element. It is sold individually.
What the grid does
A DE filter does not filter with the tank, it filters with the diatomaceous earth held on the grid fabric. The grids are simply the frame and cloth that carry that coat. When the fabric tears, thins or pulls away from the seam, the DE washes straight through and settles on the pool floor as a fine grey dust.
Ordering
This is one large grid. A full 60 square foot filter uses a set of grids, so check how many large elements your tank carries and order accordingly. Because they all run the same hours, it is worth inspecting every grid in the set while the filter is open rather than replacing one at a time.
