The Vacless SVRS-10ADJ is an adjustable safety vacuum release system with automatic reset and a center thread connection. It threads into the pump in place of the suction side drain plug and covers pumps from 0.5 to 10.0 horsepower.
How it works
Centrifugal pool pumps pull a strong vacuum at the inlet. If something blocks the suction side, that vacuum climbs sharply. The valve uses an orthogonal seal, an o-ring on a moving disc that seals on both the face and the radius, held closed by a spring. When the vacuum spikes, the disc moves, the o-ring crosses air channels, and atmospheric air rushes into the pump pot. The pump loses prime and the suction releases. The seal then springs back to its normal position so the pump can re-prime.
Why the adjustable model
Pool plumbing is rarely textbook. The adjustable version compensates pneumatically for variations in the piping and filtration system, so it can provide suction relief on runs where a fixed unit would be a poor match. Vacless states the design is compliance tested up to 200 feet.
Two jobs beyond safety
The same seal movement suppresses surges. It absorbs the vacuum spike at start up, which spares the pump and filter the shock and vibration that shorten equipment life. And because the valve threads out, removing it lets water drain fully from the pump for winterization.
