Quick overview

  • Six months per unit One cylinder holds a mineral residual in the water for up to six months.
  • Sized 7.5K to 20K gallons The blue unit covers pools from 7,500 to 20,000 gallons.
  • Cuts chemical demand The minerals free up low levels of chlorine to work harder, so less sanitizer does more.
  • Good on salt pools Less chlorine production is needed, which eases the load on the cell and cuts acid demand.
  • Sits in the basket Drops into the pump basket or the skimmer, ideally the pump basket for stronger flow.
  • Rejuvenates as it runs Every pass back through the cylinder recharges the minerals during normal filtration.

Product details

PoolRx 331001 is the +Plus Blue/White mineral unit with silver, sized for pools between 7,500 and 20,000 gallons. It is a treated alloy cylinder packed with the PoolRx granular formulation.

How it works

The minerals dissolve out of the cylinder and form a stable residual right through the pool water, which holds for up to six months. Those minerals go after algae directly and free the low level of chlorine in the water to be more active, so the pool needs less sanitizer to stay clear. Every time water passes back through the cylinder during filtration the minerals are rejuvenated.

Putting it in

Clean or backwash the filter first and clear the skimmer and pump baskets. Drop the unit into the pump basket, or the skimmer if the basket is not an option, with at least three to four hours left on the pump run cycle so the granular dissolves out completely. Do not backwash or re-clean the filter for at least two weeks afterwards, so the granular can work its way through. Aim for at least one and a half turnovers a day, which usually means six to eight hours of run time.

Salt pools

On a salt pool the effect compounds. Less chlorine production is needed, which extends the life of the cell and cuts the amount of acid needed to hold pH where it belongs. It is a violation of federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What size pool does the blue unit cover?
Pools of 7,500 to 20,000 gallons. Larger pools take a different PoolRx unit.
Where does the unit go?
In the pump basket or the skimmer. The pump basket is the better spot because the flow through it is stronger. Add it when the pump still has three to four hours left on its run cycle so the granular dissolves out fully.
Can I use it on a salt pool?
Yes. The minerals mean the cell has to make less chlorine, which extends cell life and reduces how much acid is needed to hold pH.
Do I still need chlorine?
Yes. PoolRx is designed to work alongside a constant low level of chlorine, not to replace it.
