Why a blower needs one
A blower pushes air into the spa, and without a one way valve in the line, water finds its way back up the pipe toward the blower when the air stops. That is how blowers die. The check valve is the cheap part that stands between the water and the expensive one.
How it is built
The seal is drip proof, which keeps air from leaking out of the line, and the spring is a 1/4 lb. dome shape chosen to give balanced, even airflow rather than a hard snap. That spring is Underwriters Recognized stainless steel, so it holds up in the warm, wet air a blower line carries.
