Product details
Taylor R-0013-A is the cyanuric acid reagent, supplied in a 3/4 oz. bottle with a dispenser tip. It is the refill for the stabilizer test in Taylor pool water test kits.
Why stabilizer gets tested
Cyanuric acid shields free chlorine from ultraviolet light. Without it, an outdoor pool loses much of its chlorine to the sun within a day. With too much of it, chlorine is still present but works slowly, and the water can look and smell wrong while the test says the level is fine. Reading stabilizer is what tells you which of those two problems you have.
Keeping the reagent good
Reagents do not last forever. Heat, sunlight and an open cap all shorten their life, and an old bottle reads low without giving any sign that it is wrong. Keep this one capped and out of the sun, replace it when it ages, and store it well away from anything anyone might drink.
