Product details
Pentair R161025 is Solution 1, the OTO reagent used to test chlorine and bromine in pool water. It comes in a 1 oz bottle and is the factory refill for Pentair test kits.
How OTO reads
Orthotolidine reacts with chlorine or bromine and develops a yellow color, deeper as the sanitizer level rises. It is the reagent behind the yellow side of a two column test block, with the pH reading in the other column.
Keep it fresh
Reagents are consumables. Heat, sunlight and age all degrade them, and a tired bottle produces readings that no amount of chemistry will explain. When a test stops behaving the way it used to, replacing the solution is the cheapest first move.
