Why salt level is worth watching
A salt chlorine generator does not make chlorine out of nothing. It converts the salt already dissolved in the water, and it only does that efficiently inside the range the cell was built for. Drift low and chlorine output falls away or the unit starts alarming, and it is easy to blame the cell for what is really a chemistry problem. Drift high and you are spending money on salt you do not need while asking more of the cell than you have to.
Using them
These are dip and compare strips, so there is nothing to calibrate and no meter to keep charged. Keep the bottle closed and dry, since strips read badly once they have taken up moisture, and take the sample away from the returns so you are testing pool water rather than water that has just come off the cell.
