Product details

The LaMotte 7041-G is the Calcium Hardness 2 reagent in a 30 mL bottle. It is a refill for LaMotte calcium hardness testing, not a complete kit.

Why calcium hardness is worth testing

Calcium hardness sits alongside pH and alkalinity in the balance of pool water. Too little calcium and the water goes looking for it, etching plaster and attacking grout. Too much and it drops out of solution as scale on surfaces, heater tubes and salt cells. Getting a number you can trust is the first step in either direction.

Keep reagents fresh

Test reagents have a working life. Age and heat both change them, and a drifted reagent gives a confident looking result that happens to be wrong. Replacing bottles on a schedule is cheaper than chasing a chemistry problem that was never there.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What is this reagent for?
Calcium hardness testing. It is the number 2 reagent in the LaMotte calcium hardness sequence.
What size is the bottle?
30 mL.
Is this a complete test kit?
No. It is a single reagent refill for a LaMotte kit you already have.
How long do reagents last?
They do not last indefinitely. Heat and age both shift the chemistry, so a bottle that has sat through a couple of summers should be replaced before you trust its readings.
