Product details

This is the Delta UV replacement ultraviolet lamp, part number 1000-2672. Delta Ultraviolet also carries it under the reference 70-18440-S, so both numbers point at the same lamp.

Why the lamp is a service item

An ultraviolet sanitizer works on the light output of the lamp inside it. That output drops steadily with running hours, so a lamp can still glow while doing far less than it did when new. Manufacturers set a replacement interval for that reason, and changing the lamp on schedule is what keeps the unit doing its job.

While the unit is open

Look at the quartz sleeve at the same time. Scale or film on the sleeve blocks the same light a tired lamp fails to produce. Fit the new lamp with clean gloves or a cloth so that skin oils do not end up on the glass.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Is 70-18440-S the same lamp as 1000-2672?
Yes. Delta UV carries this lamp under both references.
How often should a UV lamp be changed?
UV lamps are replaced on a schedule rather than when they burn out, because output falls off well before the lamp goes dark. Follow the interval in your unit manual.
Does the lamp include the quartz sleeve?
This listing is the lamp. The quartz sleeve is a separate part, and it is worth inspecting it for scale while the unit is open.
Any handling advice?
Do not touch the glass with bare fingers. Oil from skin bakes onto the lamp and shortens its life, so use clean gloves or a cloth.
