The Pentair 523038 is the 150 watt replacement UV lamp for BioShield UV sanitizer models 522638 and 522945. It is the genuine Pentair part, sized and rated for those two units.

Why the lamp gets replaced

A UV lamp keeps glowing long after its germicidal output has fallen off, so a BioShield that looks like it is working can be doing far less than it should. Replacing the lamp on schedule keeps the sanitizer inactivating what it was installed to handle.

Before you order

Confirm your model number. The 522638 and 522945 take this 150 watt lamp; the smaller 522637 takes a 120 watt lamp. While the housing is open, check the E150S quartz sleeve for clouding or cracks, since a fouled sleeve blocks UV as effectively as a tired lamp.
