The Pentair 523036 is the 80 watt high output UV lamp for the residential BioShield UV sanitizer, model 522636. It is the genuine Pentair replacement for the 115/230V unit.

Why the lamp gets replaced

A UV lamp keeps glowing long after its germicidal output has dropped, so the sanitizer can look like it is working while doing much less than it should. Replacing the lamp on schedule keeps the BioShield delivering its rated UV dose.

Before you order

Check the model number on the sanitizer. This lamp is for the 522636; the larger 522637 uses a 120 watt lamp. While the unit is open, look over the 38.25 in. quartz sleeve and replace it if it is scaled or cracked, since a fouled sleeve blocks the UV the new lamp produces.
