The Pentair 523041 is the 50.75 in. quartz sleeve for the Bioshield UV system, model 522637. It is the genuine Pentair part.

What the sleeve does

The UV lamp sits inside the quartz sleeve, and the sleeve is what keeps the lamp dry while pool water flows around it. Quartz is used because it lets the lamp output through. Anything on the sleeve, scale, film, even a fingerprint, sits directly in that light path.

Getting the right length

Pentair builds the Bioshield in more than one size and each takes its own sleeve. This one is 50.75 in. for the 522637. The 522635 takes a 22.25 in. sleeve and the 522636 takes a 38.25 in. sleeve, so check the model number on the unit before ordering.

Sleeve and lamp

The sleeve and the lamp are separate parts and wear on different schedules. A sleeve is changed when it cracks or when cleaning no longer clears it; the lamp is changed on hours. Model 522637 uses the 120 watt Bioshield UV lamp. Handle the new sleeve by the ends and wipe it clean before it goes in.

Which model does this sleeve fit?
The Pentair Bioshield model 522637. The 50.75 in. length is specific to that unit.
What if I have a 522635 or a 522636?
Those take different lengths. Pentair lists a 22.25 in. sleeve for the 522635 and a 38.25 in. sleeve for the 522636.
Does the UV lamp come with it?
No. The sleeve is supplied on its own. Model 522637 uses the 120 watt Bioshield UV lamp, which is a separate part.
When should the sleeve be replaced?
