What a booster is for
A PoolRx unit works on minerals held in the water, and the pool loses those minerals steadily: out through the backwash line, over the edge as splash out, and consumed killing algae. The Plus booster carries the minerals that make up that loss. It is also used to bring a larger pool up to strength when a PoolRx unit is first installed. As a rough guide the minerals need replacing every 4 to 6 months, depending on how hard the pool is swum.
Where it goes
The booster does not go back into the PoolRx unit. Leave the unit in place and add the booster to the skimmer or pump basket, where the minerals dissolve and carry into the pool. Clean and backwash the filter and clear both baskets first, so the minerals do not settle onto dirt and get flushed straight back out. Run the pump for at least 3 to 4 hours afterwards, ideally through the heat of the day, and leave the filter alone for two weeks so the minerals can pass through it.
Dosing
The label directions call for 8 ounces of booster mineral per 7.5k to 20k gallons, while the pack itself is listed for 20K to 30K gallon pools. Read the label on the pack you receive and follow it. It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
