SeaKlear Natural Clarifier is a chitosan based clarifier for pools, spas and hot tubs, supplied here in a 1 gallon bottle. It got its name from its origins: the chemistry was first used by the U.S. Navy to clear seawater for underwater photography.
How it clears the water
Cloudy water is usually fine organic debris, particles too small for the filter to catch on their own. Chitosan attracts that material and gathers it into a floc, a mass of organic matter large enough to be carried to the filter and trapped there. The filter still does the removing, the clarifier just makes the debris catchable.
Dosing and habit
For pools, use 1 ounce per 5,000 gallons. The spa and hot tub formulation is stronger relative to volume at 1 ounce per 500 gallons.
