A 16 x 24 ft inground pool takes a 21 x 29 ft or 22 x 30 ft cover. The extra is the overlap, 2.5 or 3 ft on every side, and it laps onto the deck where the water tubes hold it down. Every cover on this page is listed by the pool it fits, and the covers cut for a larger pool that still work here are under Also fits.

A 21 x 29 ft cover, or a 22 x 30 ft from the Cool Covers King line. The 21 x 29 is the pool plus 5 ft and leaves 2.5 ft of overlap a side. The King is plus 6 ft and leaves 3 ft.
13 tubes of 8 ft, or 10 of 10 ft. The 21 x 29 ft cover has a 100 ft edge, and the tubes go end to end around it on the deck.
Only if every side still keeps 2.5 to 5 ft of overlap, and the next pool sizes up are too long for that on a 24 ft pool. The covers on this page are the ones cut for it, 21 x 29 ft and 22 x 30 ft.
It blocks the light, so algae has nothing to work with and the water opens cleaner. The trade is that rain and snowmelt sit on top and have to come off with a cover pump. Mesh drains itself and leaves more cleanup.
No. Never drain an inground pool. The water in it holds the shell down against the groundwater outside. The level drops a little for winter, which is part of why the cover is cut 5 ft larger than the pool.
