20 x 45 ft Inground Pool Winter Covers

A 20 x 45 ft inground pool takes a 25 x 50 ft or 26 x 51 ft cover. The extra is the overlap, 2.5 or 3 ft on every side, and it laps onto the deck where the water tubes hold it down. Every cover on this page is listed by the pool it fits, and the covers cut for a larger pool that still work here are under Also fits.

These are cut for a larger pool but still work here. Each card shows the overlap it leaves on the sides and on the ends, so you can check it against your deck.

Inground winter cover questions

What size winter cover fits a 20 x 45 ft inground pool?

A 25 x 50 ft cover, or a 26 x 51 ft from the Cool Covers King line. Plus 5 ft leaves 2.5 ft of overlap a side; the King's plus 6 ft leaves 3 ft.

How many water tubes does a 20 x 45 ft pool need?

19 tubes of 8 ft, or 15 of 10 ft. The 25 x 50 ft cover is 150 ft around its edge, and the tubes lie end to end along it.

Which covers made for a bigger pool also fit a 20 x 45 ft pool?

A 30 x 50 ft cover leaves 5 ft on the sides and 2.5 ft on the ends. A 30 x 55 ft leaves the full 5 ft all round. Both are under Also fits, and both need a few more tubes than the 25 x 50.

Can I use blocks or bricks to hold the cover down?

No. They tear the cover and the liner, and if the cover is pulled in they go into the pool with it. Use water tubes, filled two thirds to three quarters so the ice has room. Neither the tubes nor the cover is a safety device.

Do I need a cover pump?

With a solid cover, yes. Rain and snowmelt have nowhere to go and the weight pulls the cover down into the water. A mesh cover drains through into the pool and does not need one.
