Product details
The Danner 2540 is a 300 GPH pool cover pump, supplied with a 25 foot power cord and a prefilter. It sits on the winter cover and pulls off the rain and melt that collects there.
Why a cover needs a pump
Water on a cover is deceptively heavy. A few inches spread across a rectangle of vinyl is hundreds of pounds pulling toward the middle, stretching the material, dragging the edges off the deck, and eventually taking the cover and everything on it into the pool. Clearing the water before it builds is the whole point.
The prefilter
A cover collects leaves along with the rain, and leaves are what stop a small pump. The prefilter that comes with the 2540 screens the intake so debris does not jam it on the first heavy night. Check the screen when you set the pump out and again after big storms, since a blocked prefilter looks exactly like a dead pump.
