Does it need a cover pump?

My pool has a step. Will this cover work?
No. This one is a plain rectangle. A step needs a cover cut with a step panel, stock at 8 ft wide and 4 ft back at the water line, and a step larger than that needs a custom cover.
What does the deck need?
Deck on all four sides. About a foot of the cover lies past the pool edge on each side and the anchors go through it, so there has to be concrete or paver decking to tamp a brass anchor into all the way round.
