Product details

A 16 x 38 ft rectangular pool with no step takes this Royal mesh panel, cut at 18 x 40 ft. The extra foot along each edge is overlap onto the deck, which is where the straps run down to their anchors and where the tension comes from. The pool size is the ordering figure; the panel size is how the cover is built.

Blue mesh fabric, published at 4.5 oz per square yard with a 385 PSI burst rating.
Rain and snowmelt pass through the weave into the water, so nothing stands on the fabric between storms.
Straps land on a 5 ft square grid and tension against stainless steel springs.
Brass anchors and collars are made not to corrode and tamp level with concrete or paver decking.
The panel ships with its anchors, an installation rod, a tamping tool, and a storage bag.

Drainage is one of the requirements a safety cover has to meet. ASTM F1346 section 7.3 asks for substantially all standing water to be gone within 30 minutes of rainfall stopping, and a mesh weave answers that by never holding the water in the first place. Light does get through, though, so plan on a heavier algaecide dose at closing.

What size pool is this cover cut for?

A 16 x 38 ft rectangular inground pool with no step. The 18 x 40 ft figure on the spec list is the fabric, two feet larger in each direction so the edges land on the deck. Measure the pool at the water line and order against that number.

How fast does a safety cover have to shed rain?

ASTM F1346 section 7.3 requires a safety cover to clear substantially all standing water within 30 minutes of the rain stopping. Mesh does it by letting the water through the weave into the pool, so there is nothing left to drain off the top.

Does a mesh cover change how much algaecide I use?

Usually. Mesh lets some light through to the water, and that is enough for algae to work with through a long closed season, so the algaecide dose is commonly doubled under a mesh cover. Go by the instructions on the product you close with.

How is the strap grid laid out?

Straps run on a 5 ft square grid across the panel, both directions, and each one ends at its own anchor in the deck. A tighter grid than this means more straps and more holes drilled; a wider one means fewer. The grid is what spreads a load across the whole cover rather than one corner of it.
