Questions about this size

What size safety cover fits a 12 x 24 ft pool?

The covers at this size are cut 14 x 26 ft, the pool plus about a foot of fabric on every side. That overhang lies on the deck and carries the anchors, so the cover measurement is never the pool measurement.

Do I need a cover pump for a 12 x 24 ft safety cover?

It depends which one you pick. The PoolTux Royal and King99 covers here are mesh and drain through into the pool, so there is no pump. The King Light Weight Solid does not drain through, so it needs a cover pump running all winter.

Is there a version cut for a pool with a step?

Yes, the Royal mesh covers come in a center end step version. The step panel is 8 ft wide and 4 ft back at the water line, which is the stock size. Measure your step: anything larger than that needs a custom cover.

How fast does a safety cover have to drain?

ASTM F1346 section 7.3 requires substantially all standing water gone within 30 minutes after rain stops. In the test the water is unsafe once it completely covers a supine test object's torso, so the risk being measured is drowning in the puddle on top. That is why a solid cover has to have a pump.

How far apart are the straps?

On a 5 x 5 ft grid at this size. Every strap ends at its own anchor in the deck, so the anchors land about every 5 ft around the perimeter.
