Product details

This Royal cover is cut for a 12 x 24 ft rectangular inground pool with the step centered on one end wall. The step section is 8 ft wide and reaches 4 ft back from the pool at the water line, which is the pair of numbers to take on your own step with a tape. The panel is made larger than the pool so fabric lands on the deck all the way round, and that overlap is where the anchors go.

  • Blue mesh, rated at 4.5 oz per square yard with a 385 PSI burst strength.
  • Rain and melting snow drain through the weave into the pool below.
  • Straps run 5 ft apart in both directions across the panel.
  • Brass anchors tamp flush with concrete or paver decking and rise with a hex key.
  • Springs, an installation rod, a tamping tool and a storage bag are supplied.

If you are comparing this against a cheaper winter cover, the difference is written into ASTM F1346. The standard sorts covers into powered safety, manual safety and other covers, and puts a winter cover in that last group while stating it is not a barrier for a child under five. Only a safety cover faces the static load and drainage tests. Section 8.12 then makes the maker print the classification on the label, so the label settles the question. PoolTux warrants this cover for 15 years, the first 3 of them full.

What size pool does this cover fit?
A 12 x 24 ft rectangular inground pool with the step centered on one end. The panel is cut larger than the pool so that fabric reaches the deck on all four sides, which is where the anchors go. Measure your pool at the water line before ordering.
How do I know this is a safety cover and not a winter cover?
The label says so. Section 8.12 of ASTM F1346 requires every cover to state its classification, and that is the only reliable way to tell them apart once the packaging is gone. A winter cover falls under what the standard calls other covers, which it states are not intended as a barrier for children under five.
Will my step fit under the step panel?
The step section here is 8 ft wide and 4 ft back from the pool at the water line. Measure along the wall and then out into the water, and compare both numbers. A step wider than 8 ft or deeper than 4 ft will not sit under this panel.
Do I need a cover pump?
No, this is a mesh cover. Water passes through the fabric into the pool rather than collecting on top, so there is nothing to pump. The level in the pool rises over the winter as a result, so check it and bring it back down if it climbs too near the top.
