Product details

This King panel is a solid safety cover cut for a 12 x 24 ft rectangular inground pool with no step cutout. The fabric measures 14 x 26 ft, so roughly a foot of it reaches the deck on every side once the springs are tensioned. The light weight solid fabric runs at about half the weight of a full weight solid, which shows up when one person is pulling the cover on or off alone.

  • Solid blue fabric, so rain, snowmelt, dirt and daylight all stay out of the pool.
  • A drain runs the length of the cover to carry standing water off the surface.
  • A cover pump handles whatever the drain leaves behind after a heavy storm.
  • Straps run on a 5 by 5 ft grid into brass anchors set into the deck.
  • Backed by 20 years limited from PoolTux, the first 3 years full.

The solid and mesh choice comes down to what you want to deal with. Mesh sends the winter weather into the pool, which means no pump on the cover but a level that climbs and light that reaches the water. A solid panel like this one keeps all of it out, and in exchange the water it catches has to leave the surface, through the drain and with a pump. Either way the load requirement is the same: ASTM F1346 tests a safety cover on a pool more than 8 ft wide at 485 lb, and this cover is made to meet that standard.

What size pool does this cover fit?
A 12 x 24 ft rectangular inground pool with no step cutout. The panel measures 14 x 26 ft, which is the cover and not the pool, and the extra foot per side is the overlap onto the deck. Measure your pool at the water line.
Do I need a cover pump with a solid cover?
Yes. A solid panel does not let water through, so rain and melting snow stay on top of it. This cover has a drain running from one end to the other to move that water off, and a cover pump is what clears what is left so the panel is not carrying a pond through the winter.
How is a solid cover different from a mesh one?
A mesh cover lets rain and snowmelt drain into the pool, which means no pump on top but a rising water level and some daylight reaching the water. A solid cover keeps everything out of the pool, including the light and the dirt, and in exchange the water it catches has to be removed from the surface.
What does the cover have to hold up?
As a safety cover it is made to meet ASTM F1346, whose static load test puts 485 lb on a cover on a pool more than 8 ft wide, applied as 210, 225 and 50 lb weights, each over one square foot and all within a 3 ft radius. Covers on pools 8 ft wide or under are tested at 275 lb. A winter cover takes no such test, and section 8.12 makes each cover state its classification on the label.
