A 20 x 40 ft pool takes a 22 x 42 ft cover. Twenty two covers at this size from PoolTux and GLI, mesh and solid, in every step cut and as plain rectangles.

A 22 x 42 ft cover. A safety cover is cut to the pool plus about 2 ft, so roughly a foot of fabric lands on the deck on each side to take the anchors.
Mesh drains rain and snowmelt through into the pool, so there is no pump, but light passes and the algaecide dose under it is commonly doubled. Solid blocks the light and holds the water on top, so it needs a cover pump all winter. Both are made in 20 x 40 ft and each cover names its material.
No, and the difference is defined. ASTM F1346 puts every cover into one of three classes: powered safety cover, manual safety cover, or other covers. A winter cover is an other cover, which the standard says is not intended as a barrier for children under five, and it faces none of the section 7 performance tests.
Deck all the way round the pool. About a foot of cover lies past each edge and the anchors are set through it, on a 5 x 5 ft grid. Brass anchors tamp flush into concrete or paver decking and wind up with a hex key.
They run from 15 years, and a 15 year limited term with the first 3 years full, up to a 20 year limited term with the first 5 years full. The terms differ by line, so check the one on the cover you are looking at.
