This King panel is cut for a 20 x 40 ft rectangular inground pool with the step at the left end. Step hand is read from the shallow end looking down the pool, so check yours that way rather than guessing from an old cover. The fabric measures 22 x 42 ft, which is the pool plus a foot of overlap onto the deck on each side, and the step panel is 8 ft across and 4 ft back at the water line.

• Nothing passes through the material, so no light reaches the water and no rain gets into it.
• A drain channel runs the length of the panel and a mesh drain panel clears the surface, with a cover pump as the alternative.

ASTM F1346 makes a safety cover a barrier rather than a lid. Section 7 loads a panel on a pool wider than 8 ft with 485 lb, split into 210, 225 and 50 lb over one square foot each inside a 3 ft radius. A winter cover is an other cover under section 4 and is not intended as a barrier for a child under five, which is why section 8.12 makes the label state the classification.
