Product details

This King panel is made for a 20 x 40 ft rectangular inground pool with the step centered on one end. The fabric measures 22 x 42 ft, so a foot of material reaches the deck at every edge once the straps pull down onto the anchors. The step panel is 8 ft across and comes 4 ft back from the pool at the water line, which is worth measuring on your own step before ordering.

  • Solid blue fabric at 7 oz per square yard, with a published burst strength of 350 PSI.
  • No sunlight gets through, so the water underneath stays dark for the whole closed season.
  • A drain channel runs the length of the panel and a mesh drain panel helps clear the surface; a cover pump is the other listed option.
  • Straps land on a 5 by 5 ft grid and take their tension from commercial springs.
  • Brass anchors set flush into concrete or paver deck and retract with a hex key.
  • Anti rub strips sit where the webbing crosses the coping, which is where covers wear first.

ASTM F1346 is what separates this from a winter cover. Its section 7 load test applies 485 lb to a panel on a pool more than 8 ft wide, put on as 210, 225 and 50 lb over one square foot each inside a 3 ft radius. A winter cover is an other cover under section 4 and is not a barrier. Section 8.12 requires the label to state which one a cover is.

What size pool is this cover for?
A 20 x 40 ft rectangular inground pool with the step centered on one end. Measure at the water line and order by that number. The cover is sized to the pool, and the panel comes out larger on purpose.
What is the cover size for, if I order by pool size?
The fabric is 22 x 42 ft, one foot beyond the pool on every side. That margin is the overlap that reaches the deck and takes the strap tension, so it is not spare cover and it is not a pool measurement. Ordering by the cover size is the usual way people end up two feet oversized.
Do I need a cover pump with a solid cover?
A solid panel holds water on top rather than letting it through, so something has to move it. PoolTux builds in a drain channel down the length of the cover and a mesh drain panel, and lists a cover pump as the other option. Mesh covers do not need a pump at all, which is the main reason people choose between the two.
What does the deck need for the anchors?
Deck all the way round the pool, because every strap ends in an anchor set into it. Brass anchors tamp down flush with concrete or paver decking and wind back up with a hex key when the cover comes off, so nothing sticks up through the swim season. With straps on a 5 ft grid, a 20 x 40 ft pool takes a lot of them.
