Questions about this size

What size safety cover fits a 20 x 44 ft pool?

A 22 x 46 ft cover. The extra 2 ft is the overhang onto the deck, about a foot on each side, and the anchors go through it.

What is the difference between the Emperor and the King99 at this size?

The material. The Emperor is a PVC laminated solid: it blocks the light and holds water on top, so it needs a cover pump all winter. The King99 is a woven mesh that drains through into the pool, so it needs no pump. Both are stated at a 20 year limited warranty with the first 5 years full.

How fast does the water have to come off the cover?

ASTM F1346 requires substantially all standing water gone within 30 minutes of rain stopping. In the test the water is unsafe once it completely covers a supine test object's torso, so the danger being measured is drowning in the puddle on top of the cover. On a solid cover that job belongs to the pump.

Which step cuts are made in 20 x 44 ft?

Center end, center, left and right step versions, plus plain rectangles with no cutout. The stock panel is 8 ft wide and 4 ft back at the water line, and a step larger than that needs a custom cover.

How is a cover this size held down?

The straps run on a 5 x 5 ft grid and each one ends at its own anchor in the deck, so you need deck all the way round the pool. Brass anchors tamp flush into concrete or paver decking and wind up with a hex key.
