Product details

A 20 x 44 ft rectangle with a step centered on one end takes this solid Emperor panel. The step section measures 8 ft wide and 4 ft back from the pool at the water line. The cover is 22 x 46 ft laid flat, which is the pool plus a foot of overlap on each side.

  • Blue PVC laminated fabric at 12 oz per square yard, burst strength listed as 400 PSI.
  • The panel is opaque and resists ultraviolet light and mildew, so nothing reaches the water underneath.
  • The Aquaduck channel runs across the cover and keeps rain from standing in puddles.
  • Straps sit on a 5 by 5 ft grid and pull against flush mount brass anchors in the deck.
  • Anchors tamp down level with concrete or pavers and wind up with a hex key.
  • Stainless steel springs, an installation rod, a tamping tool and a storage bag come with it.

Because the fabric is solid, water collects on top rather than draining into the pool, so a cover pump or a drain panel is part of the arrangement. ASTM F1346 is the standard a safety cover is built to: section 7 loads a panel of this width with 485 lb and section 7.3 asks for standing water to be gone within half an hour of the rain stopping.

Will this cover go over my steps?
The step section is 8 ft wide and comes 4 ft back from the pool at the water line, and the rest of the panel is a plain 20 x 44 ft rectangle. Measure your step across the wall and out into the water, and both numbers have to fall inside those. Eyeballing it is how people end up with a cover that will not close.
What pool does the 22 x 46 ft panel fit?
A 20 x 44 ft rectangle. The panel is deliberately a foot bigger than the pool on each side, because the fabric has to pass the coping and the straps have to reach anchors set back in the deck. Always order a safety cover by the pool size.
How many anchors go into the deck?
One for every strap, and the straps on this cover run on a 5 by 5 ft grid. A tighter grid means more straps and more anchors, and that is how the load gets spread around the perimeter. Count the straps along each edge of the panel before you start drilling.
Does a solid cover keep algae down?
It helps, because this fabric passes no daylight at all and light is what algae needs to grow. Mesh is the case where some light gets through, which is why an algaecide dose is commonly doubled under a mesh panel. Closing chemistry still matters under a solid cover, it just has less working against it.
