Product details

This tan King99 panel fits a 20 x 40 ft rectangle whose step sits to one side of an end instead of the middle. The step section is 8 ft wide and reaches 4 ft back at the water line. Flat, the cover is 22 x 42 ft, the surplus foot per side being the overlap onto the deck.

  • Mesh fabric at 7 oz, burst strength listed as 670 PSI.
  • Rain and melting snow pass through into the pool, so no pump ever goes on top of the panel.
  • Ninety nine percent of the ultraviolet light is screened out, which keeps algae slow while the pool is closed.
  • Straps run 5 ft apart in each direction to flush mount brass anchors in the deck.
  • Tension-Tech springs hold the tension, and anti rub strips keep the webbing off the coping.
  • Anchors, stainless steel springs, an installation rod, a tamping tool and a storage bag are supplied.

Because the step is not centered, order from a drawing of your own pool rather than from memory. And treat this as a safety cover, not a winter cover: ASTM F1346 calls a winter cover an other cover and says it is not intended as a barrier for children under five, while a safety cover has to pass the section 7 load and drainage tests.

What is a right step cover?
The step section is built off to one side of an end rather than in the middle, which is the other layout this line comes in. The step area is the same 8 ft wide and 4 ft back at the water line. A panel like this is not symmetrical, so check the side against a plan view of your pool before ordering.
What size pool is it for?
A 20 x 40 ft rectangle. The panel measures 22 x 42 ft because a safety cover is made a foot larger than the pool on each side, so the fabric laps the coping and the straps reach the anchors. Order by the pool measured at the water line.
Does mesh mean I skip the cover pump?
Yes. Water passes straight through the weave into the pool, so nothing stands on the panel for a pump to remove. The trade is that the pool level climbs through the winter and should be checked, and that some daylight reaches the water, which is why algaecide is commonly doubled under mesh.
What does the deck need for the anchors?
Concrete or paver decking the whole way round. Brass anchors are set into the deck, tamped down flush so nothing stands proud in summer, and wound back up with a hex key when the cover goes on. A stretch of grass or gravel on one side leaves those straps with nothing to pull against.
