Product details

This Emperor panel is made for a 20 x 40 ft rectangle whose step sits in the middle of one end. The step area is 8 ft wide and reaches 4 ft back from the pool at the water line, so measure yours both ways first. Laid flat the cover is 22 x 42 ft, the surplus foot per side being the overlap that reaches the deck anchors.

  • Blue solid fabric, PVC laminated, 12 oz per square yard, listed at 400 PSI burst strength.
  • Opaque and resistant to ultraviolet light and mildew, so no daylight reaches the water below.
  • The Aquaduck channel spans the panel and keeps rain from standing in puddles.
  • Straps run on a 5 by 5 ft grid, each ending at a flush mount brass anchor.
  • Tension-Tech springs pull the cover up tight, and chafing strips protect the webbing and the coping.
  • Anchors, stainless springs, an installation rod, a tamping tool and a storage bag are included.

Solid fabric holds water on the surface, which is the one operational difference from mesh: a cover pump or a drain panel moves it off. Set the pool level within the maximum the maker gives, commonly about 18 in below the top, since the water is what supports the panel under snow.

What size pool is this cut for?
A 20 x 40 ft rectangle with the step in the middle of one end. The panel measures 22 x 42 ft, which is the overlap onto the deck rather than extra pool coverage. Measure your pool at the water line and order by that figure.
How much load does a safety cover this size have to carry?
ASTM F1346 section 7 sets 485 lb for any cover on a pool more than 8 ft wide, applied as separate 210, 225 and 50 lb weights, each over one square foot and all within a 3 ft radius. Covers on pools 8 ft wide or under are tested at 275 lb. A 20 ft wide panel is well into the first group, and this cover is built to meet ASTM F1346.
Do I need a pump on this cover?
Yes, plan for one. The fabric is solid, so rain and snowmelt sit on the surface instead of draining into the pool. PoolTux builds the Aquaduck channel into the panel to stop puddles and lists a mesh drain panel or a pump as the ways water is actually removed.
How is this different from a winter cover?
A winter cover is an other cover under ASTM F1346 section 4, and the standard states plainly that it is not intended as a barrier for children under five. A safety cover has to pass the section 7 tests for load and drainage. Section 8.12 requires each cover to state its classification on its label, which is how an owner tells the two apart.
