Product details

This Royal mesh panel is cut for a 20 x 40 ft rectangular inground pool with no step. The fabric measures 22 x 42 ft, giving a foot of overlap onto the deck on every side for the straps and anchors. On a pool this size the measurement is worth taking twice, at the water line, wall to wall.

  • Blue mesh fabric, published at 4.5 oz with a burst strength of 385 PSI.
  • Rain and melting snow pass through the weave into the pool, so no cover pump is required.
  • Straps run on a 5 ft square grid so no one section of the panel takes the whole load.
  • Brass anchors and collars tamp level with concrete or paver decking and are made not to corrode.
  • Stainless steel springs, an installation rod, a tamping tool, and a storage bag are included.

Being a safety cover rather than a winter cover means this panel is made to the section 7 requirements of ASTM F1346, where a cover on a pool wider than 8 ft carries 485 lb applied as three weights inside a 3 ft radius. The label on a cover has to state its classification under section 8.12, which is the check to run on any cover around young children.

What size pool does this cover fit?
A 20 x 40 ft rectangular inground pool with no step, which is the most common large rectangle. The panel is cut at 22 x 42 ft, a foot larger on each side so the fabric can reach the deck. Measure your pool at the water line and order to that figure.
How much weight is a safety cover tested to hold?
For a cover on a pool wider than 8 ft, ASTM F1346 section 7 applies 485 lb, made up of 210, 225, and 50 lb weights, each spread over one square foot and all set down inside a 3 ft radius. Narrower covers are tested at 275 lb. This panel is sold as a safety cover and is made to meet ASTM F1346.
How many anchors does a cover this size take?
The straps sit on a 5 ft square grid, so the anchor count follows the perimeter of a 22 x 42 ft panel. Each strap pulls against its own anchor in the deck. A tighter grid would mean more straps and more anchor points; this line uses 5 ft in both directions.
Is anything else needed to install it?
The cover comes with its brass anchors and collars, stainless steel springs, an installation rod, a tamping tool, and a storage bag. What it needs from you is deck all the way around the pool for the anchors and a drill to set them in concrete or paver decking.
