Product details
The S.R. Smith AS-100B is a 4 inch deep bronze deck anchor for 1.90 inch OD rail tubing. It ships with the bronze wedge, the washer and the bolt that clamp the rail, plus a 1/4-20 UNC grounding bolt.
How the anchor works
The anchor sets into the deck and the rail drops into it. Tightening the bolt drives the wedge outward against the tube, which locks the rail in place and lets you lift it out again for winter or for deck work. The grounding bolt gives the bonding wire a proper connection to the rail, which is a code requirement in most jurisdictions.
Bronze and depth
A deck anchor spends its life in a wet pocket full of pool water. Bronze handles that far better than plated steel, which is why it is the standard material for the job. This is the 4 inch deep version, so the deck has to be able to take the full pocket. S.R. Smith recommends it for rails.
