What the acid demand test tells you
A pH reading tells you where the water is. The acid demand test tells you what to do about it. By titrating the sample, the test gives you the amount of acid needed to bring the pH down to target, which varies with the alkalinity and the volume of the pool. Two pools reading the same pH can need very different doses, and guessing is how operators overshoot.
The 16 oz. size
This is the bulk refill bottle, the size service companies and commercial operators buy rather than the small vial that ships inside a kit. Reagents do not last forever. Write the date on the bottle when you open it and replace reagent that has aged out, because a bad reagent turns a good test kit into a source of wrong answers.
