The Hayward AQL2-BASE-RF is the AQL2 wireless base station for Hayward pool automation. It is compatible with all Pro Logic, E-Command 4, On Command and Aqua Plus systems.

How it fits into the system

The base station installs directly onto the side of the Pro Logic or Aqua Plus main control unit at the equipment pad. From there it communicates with the wireless accessories on the system, so a handheld remote or spa side control can reach the controller without a cable run out to it.

Before you order

This is the base station on its own. The wireless remotes and spa side controls that talk to it are separate Hayward items, so check which piece of the chain you are missing before ordering.

What does the base station actually do?
It is the radio at the equipment pad. Wireless accessories such as a remote talk to the base station, and the base station passes the commands to the control unit.
Do I need one if I already have a wireless remote?
A wireless accessory needs a base station on the controller to communicate with. Without it there is nothing at the pad for the remote to reach.
