Product details

The Intermatic PF1102T is a single circuit freeze protection control for 240 volt pool and spa equipment, with an integrated adjustable thermostat, housed in a Type 3R metal enclosure.

What it protects against

Freeze damage does not usually announce itself. Water sitting still in pipes, a pump volute or a heater exchanger expands as it freezes and splits whatever is holding it, and the bill arrives in spring. This control watches the outdoor temperature and turns the pump and heater on when it drops below the setpoint you have chosen, so the water keeps moving through the cold hours.

Setup

The thermostat setpoint is adjustable, so you can pick the trigger temperature that suits your climate and your equipment. The enclosure is a heavy duty metallic rainproof Type 3R, built to live outdoors at the equipment pad.

Where else it is used

Intermatic lists the control for pool and spa use plus pond, fountain and marina type applications, anywhere a 240 volt circuit needs to start on a temperature drop.

What does freeze protection actually do?
When the outdoor temperature drops below the setpoint on the thermostat, the control turns the pump and heater on. Moving water is far harder to freeze than still water, so circulation is what protects the plumbing and the equipment.
