The Intermatic PS3000 is a surge protective device built for the pool and spa equipment pad. It works on a 120/240 VAC single split phase supply and provides three modes of protection, covering L1 to neutral, L2 to neutral and L1 to L2.
Why a pool pad needs one
Modern pool equipment is full of electronics. Variable speed pump drives, heat pump controllers and automation boards are the expensive parts of a system and they are the parts a surge takes out first. A motor may survive a hit that destroys the drive attached to it. A surge protector at the pad is inexpensive next to the cost of replacing a drive, and it keeps the pool running instead of sitting idle while parts are sourced.
