The Intermatic P1131 is a heavy duty portable outdoor time clock rated at 20 amps, fitted with a twist-lock plug and receptacle.

What it is for

Intermatic builds these portable timers to run the filter pump on a portable spa or an above ground pool. The timer sits between the outlet and the pump, so filtration runs on a set schedule without anyone remembering to switch it. The same unit is often used to time outdoor lighting and seasonal decorations.

Why twist-lock

A twist-lock plug and receptacle turn to lock rather than simply pushing in. Around a pool or spa, where cords get knocked and pulled, that connection stays made. Nothing has to be wired in, so setting it up is a matter of plugging the timer into the outlet and the pump into the timer. Check the amp draw on your pump nameplate against the 20 A rating before you connect it.
