Product details

The Intermatic T106M is the genuine replacement mechanism for T106 model 24 hour mechanical time switches. It is supplied as the mechanism alone, the internal works that mount inside an existing clock.

Voltage and switching

This mechanism is built for 208/277 volt service and uses SPDT contacts, single pole double throw, which switch between two circuits rather than making and breaking one. That configuration is what suits it to two speed applications. Getting the voltage right matters more than anything else here, since a 120 volt clock uses a different mechanism entirely.

When to replace the mechanism

Time clocks fail from the inside long before the enclosure gives up. A dial that drifts, sticks or no longer switches when the trippers come round points at the mechanism. If the case and enclosure are sound, dropping in a new mechanism brings the clock back for far less than a complete timer. Note that the drive motor is sold as its own Intermatic part, so confirm which one has actually failed.

What exactly comes in the box?
The mechanism only. There is no case, no enclosure and no back plate, so this suits a T106 where everything except the internal works is still good.
Will it run on 120 volts?
No. This mechanism is built for 208/277 volt service. A 120 volt clock takes a different Intermatic mechanism.
What does SPDT mean here?
Single pole, double throw. The contacts switch between two circuits rather than simply opening and closing one, which is what makes it suitable for two speed applications.
How do I know the mechanism has failed rather than the motor?
A mechanism that will not hold time, will not advance the dial, or no longer switches when the trippers come round is the part to replace. The replacement time clock motor is a separate Intermatic part.
