Product details

The Intermatic 178T24 is the replacement freeze protection thermostat used to protect pool and spa equipment and plumbing against freeze damage. It turns the pump on when outdoor air temperature falls below the setting on the adjustable knob.

Setting the trip point

The knob adjusts from 45 degrees down to 32 degrees in 5 degree increments. Setting it higher means the pump starts earlier and runs more; setting it closer to freezing means it runs less but leaves a smaller margin. Most owners land somewhere in the middle for their climate.

What is in the box

This listing is the thermostat knob and its wiring. The mechanism and the relay unit are not included, so it is intended as a repair part for an existing freeze protection installation.
