The Intermatic 143T135 is a double pole, single throw (DPST) relay with a 240 VAC coil and a 3 HP rating. Intermatic lists it as a pool and spa accessory for motor and pump control, for residential and commercial equipment.

What it does

A relay lets a small control signal switch a larger load. When 240 VAC reaches the coil of the 143T135, both poles close at the same moment, so a single relay can switch two circuits together. That is how a 240 volt load such as a pump motor is usually switched, with one pole on each hot leg. When the coil loses power, both poles open again.

Choosing the right relay

Coil voltage is the first thing to match. Intermatic builds this DPST, 3 HP relay in four coil versions: 143T135 at 240 VAC, 143T136 at 120 VAC, 143RC151 at 24 VAC and 143T145A at 24 VDC. A coil fed the wrong voltage will either fail to pull in or overheat, so read the label on the relay you are replacing before you order.

Before you install

Turn off power at the main panel before opening the control, and have the wiring done by a qualified person to national and local electrical codes. The relay has an ivory body of metal and plastic and carries the Intermatic 1-year limited warranty.
