What an eyeball does

The eyeball is the ball that sits in the return fitting and swivels, so the water coming back from the filter can be aimed. Pointing the returns slightly down and around the pool sets up the circulation pattern that carries floating debris to the skimmer and keeps dead corners from forming.

Buying six at a time

Eyeballs harden, discolor and lose their friction fit in the seat, so they tend to fail together rather than one at a time. A six pack with the installation tool covers a typical pool in a single visit.
