The Hayward SP1023G is the threaded wall fitting that carries filtered water back into an above ground pool. It comes with the locknut and the gaskets, so the whole through wall assembly is in one box.
How it seals
The fitting passes through the pool wall and is clamped by the locknut, with a gasket on each face so the wall is sandwiched between them. That is what keeps water on the inside of the liner instead of running down the outside of the pool. When those gaskets harden with age, the return starts to weep, and replacing the fitting and gaskets as a set is the reliable fix.
What threads into it
Because the inlet is threaded, a return eyeball fits in during the season and a threaded plug goes in for winterizing. Fitting and unfitting either one does not disturb the wall seal.
