Product details

This is the Sundance Spas SD6600-167 box end temperature sensor in the new style, listed to fit the 800, 600, 600-S and 400S series spas.

What it does

The temperature sensor is what tells the control pack how warm the water actually is. Everything downstream of that reading depends on it: when the heater fires, when it stops, and what the topside panel shows you. When the sensor drifts or fails outright, the pack acts on bad information, and the symptoms look like a heater problem rather than a sensor problem.

Box end

The box end version terminates at a connector that plugs into the control box, which makes the changeover a matter of unplugging the old sensor and routing the new one rather than cutting into wiring.

Before you order

Spa packs usually carry more than one probe, a temperature sensor and a separate high limit sensor. Check which one your control is reporting, and compare the connector against the sensor in the spa if the tub is older, since this is the new style part.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which spas does this fit?
Sundance lists it for the 800, 600, 600-S and 400S series.
What is meant by new style?
It is the current version of the box end temperature sensor. If your spa still carries the older sensor, compare the connector before ordering.
How do I know the sensor has failed?
Typical signs are a temperature reading that does not match the water, a reading that jumps around, a heater that will not come on, or a control that reports a sensor fault.
Is this the same as the high limit sensor?
This part is the temperature sensor. Spa packs generally carry a separate high limit sensor, so confirm which one your control is calling out before ordering.
