Product details

The Maytronics 3865005 is the hexagon drive shaft used in Dolphin robotic pool cleaners. It is the genuine part, and it is one of the few components Maytronics carried across almost the entire range, from the old Advantage and Explorer units through Nautilus, Triton, Supreme, Wave, DX, ProX and the current C series.

What it does

The hex section is the connection between the drive motor and the wheels or tracks. All the torque the cleaner produces goes through that hex, along with every shock the cleaner takes climbing a wall or catching a main drain cover.

The failure it causes

When a drive shaft rounds off at the hex or shears, the cleaner still powers up, the motor still runs, and nothing moves. That symptom sends a lot of owners shopping for a motor unit when the actual fault is a small shaft costing a fraction of the price. Open the drive side, look at the hex, and if the flats are rounded, this is the fix.

Fit

Check the shaft you are removing against the model list before you order, since a few of the newer platforms use their own drive hardware.

Will this fit my Dolphin?
Almost certainly. Maytronics uses the 3865005 hexagon drive shaft across nearly the whole Dolphin range, from the older Advantage and DX models through Nautilus, Triton, Supreme, Wave and the C series.
My cleaner runs but does not move. Is this the part?
It is the first thing to check. If the motor spins and the tracks or wheels stay still, the drive shaft has usually rounded off or sheared at the hex.
