The Maytronics 9983122-R1 is the grey active brush used across a long span of the Dolphin cleaner range. It is the genuine factory part.

What the active brush does

A robotic cleaner does not simply vacuum. The brush spins against the surface as the cleaner drives, breaking loose the film and bonded dirt that suction alone will not lift, and feeding it into the intake. When the brush wears flat the cleaner keeps driving its full pattern and keeps filtering, but it stops scrubbing, and the pool looks slightly hazy for reasons that are easy to blame on the filter.
